Arinûs Vërkän grew up in a family of merchants, where a sense of honesty, hard work, and responsibility toward the community had been passed down for generations. The family’s mixed-goods shop in Ost Hûsan passed to his elder brother by right of firstborn. Arinûs wanted a path of his own no less, and so his parents bought him a small shop and warehouse in the city of Bärinar, where he gradually built a reputation as a reliable and fair merchant.
His shop and warehouse on the edge of the city docks became a place where a word — and a handshake — could always be trusted. It was this very nature that made him a natural source of support for the young pilot Arëvin Lärkän. A friendship that began as a working relationship with her father grew, in time, into something deeper. Arinûs was always the one who offered a helping hand, without ever expecting anything in return.
